Buckland Surgery

Appointments

Please click here to read our COVID-19 appointments statement

Our receptionists will take your calls from 8.30 in the morning. We will try to offer you a 10 minute appointment with a doctor that day or the next.  This is the same for Nurses appointments.  The time of appointment will vary depending on what you book the appointment for.

You need to register to use our online appointment booking service and this is best done in person at the surgery. Please speak to one of our receptionists.

Home Visits

Please help by coming to the surgery if possible.  The doctor may discuss your problem on the phone to assess whether a home visit is necessary. If a visit has been arranged with the Doctor they will visit at lunchtime after morning surgery.

Emergencies

If you feel it would be appropriate to call an ambulance rather than the emergency GP then ring 999 in the normal way otherwise telephone the surgery number 01626 332813 during the day Monday to Friday or call 111 out of hours .

You will then be put through to a telephone operator who will ask for details.  The emergency doctor will then call you back as soon as possible to discuss your problem.  Most patients will be offered an appointment at Newton Abbot Hospital. In almost all cases it will do the patient no harm to leave the house; this includes children with a fever. Patients are likely to be seen by the doctor more quickly if they are brought to the treatment centre. Home visits are normally only offered to very frail or housebound patients.

Minor Injury

There is a minor injury/illness department at Newton Abbot Hospital.  This service is for any injury that cannot be dealt with at the surgery.

A & E Torbay

This service is for urgent same day emergencies that cannot be dealt with by any of the above services.
